Performance tuning works best when you change one variable at a time. More memory or more optimization mods are not automatically better if the underlying instance is mismatched or overloaded.
Start with a stable instance
Fix crashes, dependency warnings, and version mismatches before tuning performance. Optimization cannot compensate for an invalid mod set.
Use a sensible render distance
Lowering render distance and simulation distance can reduce CPU and memory pressure, especially in large technical worlds or when generating new terrain.
Avoid extreme memory allocation
Assign enough memory for the pack, but avoid giving Java nearly all system memory. The operating system and background processes still need room to work.
Measure changes one at a time
When you add a performance mod, change JVM settings, or adjust video options, test before making the next change. That makes improvements and regressions easier to identify.
Watch automation-heavy areas
Large machine rooms, entity farms, chunk loaders, and cross-mod automation can create more load than the visual complexity of a space dimension itself. Test your busiest areas, not just a fresh world.
